My 3-year-old has been carrying the bug specimen around all week and actually sits still to study it. The acrylic is thick enough that I don't worry when she drops it on the tile.
The acrylic blocks are completely smooth and solid, so I don't have to worry about sharp edges or any shards when the kids drop them on the floor. We've spent the last week just holding each one up to the window light and finding new details in the preserved leaves.
My toddler and I have been examining the scorpion and leaf specimens every morning since these arrived. The acrylic is completely smooth and seamless, so I don't worry about any rough edges while she's holding them.
